DnD has continued

By Jesse Morgan | October 30, 2006

So I took up playing DnD again about 4 months or so ago and our “weekly” meetings lasted for all of 3 weeks before turning into monthly meetings- we’ve finally got things back on track with 2 games in a row, and here’s a little breakdown of what happened at this last one-

the guys are trying to find this statue piece- they slaughtered a den of Lizardfolk looking for t and found out that they had just sold it for a can of “Holy Green Beans”.

So they set off in persuit of the guy in their donkey cart, which is fortunate because the guy they’re chasing is also on a donkey card and has a half day lead on them. Along the way they run into a little girl who is screaming that they took her mother and they need to follow her and save her mom. the girl then runs into the forest.

Even though they suspect a trap, they walk into the woods and find an old stone manor and evidence the girl ran in there- once the guys get in, the entryway collapses trapping them inside. they find the house is filled with zombies, mushrooms and bugs- but no girl. they manage to get out via a dumbwaiter to the second floor and find the girls bag she was carring was purposfully slit to leave a trail, and no sign of the girl. They decide to get the heck out and head back to their cart… which is now missing.

So they head out on foot after the guy they’re following. Along the way Tagnus(krox) notices someone spying on them from the woods and shoots his Rod of Wonder in their direction, dropping a 6d6 fireball on their head. They run off into the woods. After an hour or two see that he’s broken a wheel and left the cart on the side of the road. With a little gnomish enginuity, they rig it to be steered and powered with a decanter of endless air and of water.

They eventually catch up to the people they’re following, nailing them with the decantur and rushing into battle. Ferny recognizes one of the assailants as Roy, a friend from his home village. The other is Ziggy, who claims to be in the mood for pie. They explain that they’re on a hunting expidition looking for parts of a statue- they’ve already purchased one from the lizardfolks and just missed finding another piece in Roy’s and ferny’s home town, but the town was demolished by the time they got there.

Tagnus convinces Ziggy and Roy that they work for this burmat guy as well and were sent to help them. Ziggy explains he has a Ring gate that he fed the piece through to get it back to burmat and he no longer has it. They join forces and head to the nearest large city- Perth.

Tune in next week for probably something a little more exciting.

Hey this could turn into a prety interesting recap of our adventures. For the record, my character (Gringly) isn’t dead yet, which has to set some sort of record for me. I’ll throw a quick bio for Gringly here.

    Gringly

    race: Dwarf
    class: Cleric of Kord
    height: 4′2″
    weight: 175 lbs
    Description:
Gringly has a stocky build, even for a dwarf. As a cleric of Kord he’s fond of physical games and training, despite not really being built for it. He’s not the brightest crayon in ghe box, but he’s also aware of this. When conflict arises he’ll use a combination of strength and tactics to make up for his lack of real offensive power. Gringly is normally friendly, however he has a hard time dealing with pranks and will often become confused and upset by people that try to con him.

    His story so far:
His favorite sport is also Gringlys life goal. To become a mexican masked wrestler. This passion was taken to extreems and as a result he may or may not have been given a mission from the church of Kord to get him out of their hair. He was told to take his tag-team partner Tagnus and walk west for 90 days and there he would find his mission in life. A 90 day walk later left the duo in the wreckage of a small town where they found a gnomish child named Ferney. Seeing the evil that was wroght there Gringly took it on himself to avenge the deaths of everyone in the village. This turned out to be eaiser than expected as they found the orc that led the invasion, however Gringlys path was not done as he found a note along with a mysterious statue head that led them to believe that this was no simple random attack.
With a bit of help from Ferney they tracked the note back to a city populated entirely by monsters. Talking to the head honcho of the town Gringly realised that he had not ordered the destruction of the town and wrote off the matter of avenging the town as finished. However there was still the matter of the magical statue head that they had found. With no leads on his holy quest they took a mission to help stop a mad wizard in a tower from terrorizing the village of monsters. Here they tricked an etin into entering the tower and worked their way through the traps to the top of the tower to find the mad wizard some sort of flesh golem from ‘parts’ he collected in the raids of the monster town. The wizard assured them that he had actually had all the parts he needed to finish his creation and with a promise that he himself wouldn’t go after the village anymore the three left the tower and headed back to town to claim their reward.
Back in the town they were given another mission to deliver the statue head to a mysterious party in a large human city to the north. On the way there they were robbed of his delivery by a local theives guild.
Once in the city they contracted a half-elf named Wryn from an opposing theives guild to help them get the item back. One stormed guild warehouse later they had their item back, however it seemed that the recipient of the delivery was a bit… dead. On the urgings of Wryn they hastily left the city to avoid a guild war and headed back towards the monster town, where they were told of another peice of the statue that could be found in a cave of lizard folk…

And that’s the history of how Gringly, Taguns, Ferney, and Wryn got to where they are now.
