I've given it up myself, but not for DIGG, that site is pretty much just as bad. That said I am a news-junkie and I have most of the stories in my RSS-aggregator before it reach any of the mentioned sites.

granted the quality on slashdot was never great, but it's steadily gotten worse.
did you read <a href="http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/11/30/1519202&from=rss" rel="nofollow">Hemos' trainwreck of a review</a> of the Yellow Machine?

Read the comments. It goes from amusing to sad as people try to finger out if he was drunk, high, or if he let the dog transcribe it for him.

The first line tells you everything you need to know:

"We recently had heard in the office over one of the Yellow Machine that's made by Anthology Solutions"

MY HEAD ASPLODE.

I don't know where in the hell you have been. I gave up on slashdot years ago, way before it was cool to give up on slashdot.

Anytime a site gets to the size of slashdot they stop becoming relevant to anything and need to go away. Somewhere around 2000, when everyone was worrying about Y2k issues I knew that Slashdot was over the hill and stopped reading them.

What can I say, I am a trend setter.

Screw this, I am posting my own farewell to /. as soon as get home. I am sick and tired of the poor quality of the submissions. I could care less about the stupid comments, but the submissions (and the stupid mod remarks) are just ridiculous.
